

Novel:: Change Section:: Five I woke up, to the sound of crunching snow. The sun had not risen yet, but it illuminated the sky so it was a lovely shade of purple. I cowered under the log, hoping whoever it was would not see me. I felt vulnerable, scared, powerless. I watched out from the shadow I was hiding under, seeing a black pair of pants that were dry, black shoes, and, suddenly, Jakes face. Jake! I cried, my voice cracking and coming out no louder than a whisper from lack of water. I leapt out of my hiding place, wrapping my good arm tightly around his neck, burying my face into hisNovel:: Change Section:: Five


Novel:: Change Section:: Four I stood up, shivering and wet, and started an uphill trek through the snow toward the railroad tracks. My feet were numb, so I looked through my bag for the pair of boots that I had. I pulled them on, and almost instantly felt my feet warm up. I trudged along for the good part of an hour before I could see the train tracks. I ran toward them, shivering, trying to warm up my arms by rubbing them. They hem of my dress was mostly ice by now. I looked at where we went over the tracks, and saw the lines from the wheels in the snow and marks on the tracks where it broke free from theNovel:: Change Section:: Four


Novel: Change Section: Three I jolted upright, looking out the window to see whether or not it was morning. Outside, I could see the newly fallen snow glimmer in the moonlight, and the snow flakes shine with a silver glow. The trees were weighted down with about two inches of snow. The train sped up as it headed downhill, and I noticed a pole with a white square nailed to it, and the square was flapping in the wind. I looked ahead, because I had heard that those notes were put there to tell conductors to pass on word that the train needed to have the tracks switched. I saw a track-change ahead, and a blue speck off in the distance in the dirNovel: Change Section: Three


Novel:: Change Section:: Two The next time I opened my eyes, the train had long since left the station, and there was a male dressed in a black suit and black pants sitting across from me. He had light skin, and brown hair that was cut somewhat short. He looked to be in his late teens, or early twenties. His eyes were a dark blue, almost black in color. I jumped, and sighed, my hand flying up to my chest. Sorry. Gave me a fright, you did, I said in apology. Oh, no, its alright, He said, smiling. His voice was in a tenor range, and had a sligNovel:: Change Section:: Two
